Global India Filmfest lauds ‘Forouzan’

‘Forouzan’ has bagged award from the 1st Global India International Film Festival.

‘Forouzan’ short film has bagged award from the 1st edition of Global India International Film Festival.

Festival Mention for Best Director was bestowed on Abbas Khosravinejad for his leading short film.

‘Forouzan’ tells the story of a widow who lives with her two young children in a village. She attempts to protect her family and their herd of sheep against the attack of thieves at midnight.

Iran’s Art and Experience Cinema is currently hosting the short in its winter package of short films.

Khosravinejad’s award-winning title has attended various international film events before, including 2018 Pickurflick Indie Film Festival in India, 2018 High Peak Independent Filmfest in the UK, 2018 Queen City Cinephiles in the US, 3rd Inca Imperial Int’l Film Festival in Peru, 21st FRESCO Int’l Filmfest in Armenia, and 5th Los Angeles Diversity Filmfest in the US.

Previous awards granted to ‘Forouzan’ are Best Short Film Award from the 1st Astoria Film Festival and an honorable mention from Independent Shorts Awards in the US.

The aim of the festival, as noted in the official website, is “to reignite the love for cinema which has somewhere been blurred due to the commerce of the trade”.

“This festival is a platform to provide an open environment for directors, writers, actors, technicians, film appreciation enthusiasts and anyone who has a zest for cinema.”

The winners of the Global Filmfest were announced on January 10, 2019 in Mumbai.
